ok so my brother just got a new laptop and i was wondering if someone could help me with a problem he has a broadband modem and i was wondering why you couldnt have the internet going to the ,main desktop and the wireless laptop at the same time cuz it's not working

You should be able to do that just fine, assuming you have a wireless router plugged into your modem (or your modem has a wireless router built in).

the modem has a wireless router plugged ion but when i'm on the laptop you cant get on the internet on the desktop

get onto your broadband support you can get the number from whoever supplies your service. they will take you through the steps to set it up properly. ihad a problem like yours which is now sorted thanks to my broadband support. good luck
