Do you all think it's constitutional or legal or even right to charge more for people between 21 and 25 to rent cars? It's definitely discriminating based on age, which I think is just wrong in this case. I can understand their concern for younger drivers, but they still have to pay for any damage they cause. I don't find it fair at all to charge us almost twice as much.

well I do not think it's fair but that's JMO. however, I can see why they have placed such guidelines. and the way the newer generations are going it won't be long until they raise this gap to even a higher age.

I don't know about that ^^^. I am pretty confident of my driving skills. I do think that those under 25 (for the most part) have developing brains, and are more prone to speeding and getting in to trouble then those over 25. I guess it's a catch 22; I am sure that iliterate enginere doesn't speed around like a maniac and get into accidents everywhere. I like to speed when I'm going long distance, but I slow down in towns, residential area, and especially school zones or whatnot. I don't get into accidents or get tons of speeding tickets, so it is hard to say why we get charged so much. I guess it's because they can, lol.

I think it's less to do with age and more to do with experience behind the wheel, because generally older people have more experience driving. Because of all the different cases, rental companies have to apply different sets of prices for different age groups, to make it easier and less confusing. If you don't like it, save up and buy a cheap second hand car.

That age range is a higher risk. Most car rental companies won't even rent to someone under 25.

I've seen all ages that were very dangerous drivers, in my opinion it has nothing to do with age or gender it has to do with how much you respect other people and yourself enough to drive responsibly or if you're going to totally avoid having any respect for the privilege of driving by disrespecting, human life including your own, and the vehicle you drive. Which all age groups are either guilty or innocent of doing.JMO Oh! I forgot to answer the question asked my answer would be NO they shouldn't discriminate based only on age.

yea It sucks but it's not really the company renting the car .It's the company that provides the insurance coverage.like everything they go by stats. records show that age group have more at fault accidents, but they don't look at some of these 70+ drivers that should not be on the road.Talk about wrong I pay more for insurance because I had credit problems after my first divorce even though I have not had a ticket or accident for 20 years. It was that way for me too when I was 22 and that was 1985,man I feel old now.
