28/NA/Bournemouth, United Kingdom Join Date: Jan 2007 | Quests are thier to help you through the world, they give you not only monetry, equipment and xp rewards they will also give you the reason's to seek out and the direction's to find the next area's of the game , where you will find new challenges to fit in with your ever increasing level/skills and abilitys, this is somthing people sometimes refer to as "progression".
You dont have to do any quests, but you will stronger for doing so and level much faster,an expample would be - you spend 2 hours killing everything you see, congrat! you have some xp and a few bits of junk to sell, or - you spend 10 minutes collecting quests in the area your about to go killing in and then you spend 1 hour 50 minutes killing everything in that area, woot, you complete 7 quests and gain twice as much again XP ,receive 4 upgrades to your equipment and some money for your time, you also find you began some chain quests that lead to bigger challenges and better rewards- all of a sudden you have some purpose to play other than "I dont like rats/wolfs/spider/skeleton/boar"

sounds like WOW is a singerplayer game with multy player aspects, wheres runescape is a multy player game with single player aspects.
sorry but the idea of quest giving more xp and rewards then repetitive trainig disusts me. in an mmo anything that is fun shoud give less rewards not more
Runescape is the best because it has a highscore board, to me competition is the most important aspect of an mmo | | |

RTFM. (READ THE FUCKING MANUAL!)
Once done with that, you should have studied about the classes in the manual. Pick which race and cla** you think suits you.
START..WITH..QUESTS.. You don't have to continue with them after you get the hang of it, but in most MMORPGS you should surely start off with its storyline..
Once you get the basics done, you start experimenting, making money, getting friends, and all that.
Another good thing to remember, don't be shy.. Its the internet, no one knows you IRL.

32/F/Cornwall(Cornhole), Canada Join Date: Oct 2006 | What server are you on? Sometimes that can make a difference. Some are pretty dead, other are very active. It also depends on what time of the day you are on.
Questing is a good way to start. It levels you faster and you can get pretty good items for that current level.
Finding a guild can also help you to get better gear, level and have fun overall.
I'm on Malfurion...Horde and Alliance toons. Pakunah lvl 33 Tauren and Karawan lvl 29 Draenei. On Silver Hand I have a 24 lvl Night Elf Khandy. I can help you if you are on either one of these.
To change realms, it costs $25 US per character.
Grinding can be beneficial, but can take longer to level.
Main cities:
Alliance - Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus, The Exodor...many more
Horde - Orgrimmar, Undercity, Silvermoon, Thunder Bluff...many more
Neutral - Shattrath City...others
