For those of you who do not know what Tatting is, it is a very ancient way of making lace! In Mideval times, only the very top of society had tatted lace. Many Queens of the day, had their own Tatters who were responsible for nothing more than tatting lace for their gowns.
I taught myself from a book and have also taught classes. It is a dying art. I am always looking for more people who tat. There are men out there who Tat also.
I would like to see some of you join this forum! Thanks.

My grandmother tatted. I have several of her pieces. It is very intricate handwork. Tiny needle with thread. Wouldnt have a clue how she did it.

you just never know unless you try!!

Hi, Shar...
Yes, my mother used to tat and she taught me how as a teen. We used to tat edges for hankies, collars, cuffs, etc. The lace is truly beautiful and it's fun to do, though it's been awhile since I last sat down to it.
Every once in awhile there is something that tatting will be just the right touch of delicacy. I'm glad there is someone out there who still keeps up this wonderful lace-making, and I hope others will join this forum!
