Dali is by far my favorite artist. All of his paintings are ripe with so much symbolism that an art cla** could do an entire semester on one painting alone. Persistance of memory is probably his most well known work. One of my personal favorites of his is The Enigma of Desire, which is a painting of the Oedipus complex. Also, all of his paintings of his wife are really fantastic, you can almost feel the intesity of his love for her.

I love this painting, too. There's so much to see and think about in it. The work of a real genius!

Salvador Dali is amazing!! His paintings are "beautifully disturbing" surrealism kinda makes you want to look away cause it's so shocking, but the same time you eyes are glued. I remember being 8 or 9 and looking through an art book when my cla** went to the library and seeing a surrealistic painting for the first time..I remember feeling like that, I also felt ashamed but I was extremely fascinated by it too. Thats how I got into Dali, seeing his paintings years later really took me back to that memory.

One of my favorites is Elephants..I saw a picture of someone who had that as a tattoo!! It was very beautiful.

Dali is fun and there is always much to see, usually Freudian references, in his meticulously executed paintings.

I saw it at MOMA. It's amazing, and much smaller than I thought. It was such an odd choice to paint it that small. But I guess that's Dali.

I don't feel it's Dali's most impressive. He was such a whack job, he went so far beyond his popular persistence of memory.

ETA: I do not feel it is "modern" in the context of what has been created since, but this is a semantical problem.
