20/M/Wellington, New Zealand Join Date: Apr 2005 | sounds like you have high expectations, and then when you don't achieve them you get sad. Its a cycle, so it never gets any better. Not everyone gets A's and B's, you must remember that. At least you're passing, and will get something in the end.
Sounds like you like education. Inspire yourself to do well, put in extra effort and you'll reap the rewards, although not instantly, you will eventually. Its hard to see in the future and what you get, but when you get there in the end its worth it, and once you feel it you will want it again.
I guess i've always been an optimist and haven't ever had any trouble not passing. But for each course you do, you do what you do, and thats all that can be expected of you. I've learnt it pays not to get down on yourself when you don't do as well as you can. Learn from those times. It makes you better as a person, and being able to critique yourself is a skill in itself.
There will be something out there for you, you will find it

48/F/Muff, Ireland Join Date: Jan 2006 | I have 3 kids and each one is different from the other. My eldest son didnt have to study much it just seemed to come to him easy, and got A*'s A's B's and C's in both GCSE and A Levels. He then went on and got his degree and is now out working.
My Daughter always wanted to work with children from a young age, she got the qualifications she needed for childcare and nursing and is also out working but she did have to study and work bloody hard to get them.
My second son, he is so laid back he is almost horizontal, he never liked school from the age of 5. He didnt want to work for exams, but he did leave school with GCSE grades B's and C's and a few D's. He got a part time job in Sainsburys and decided that he wanted to do sound engineering etc. He got on a course for this and has been doing extremely well, has got most of his qualifications for sound engineering and stage crew management etc and loves it, and is now deciding to do something else to do with this career.
Not everyone can gain A*'s or A's, and not everyone is academic. The world still needs, bricklayers, electicians, police men and women, store managers etc.
There is something out there for you and its just go with your heart as to what you want to do, not what your parents or peers would like you to do.
Good Luck with your choice of career and if your happy in doing what you want then that is all that matters.

still NEVER was on the honor roll or did very well. I failed a class and pretty much got c's
and d's in every semi-important class in High school. Now, I am in Community College
(big surprise) and I am okay with that but I am STILL doing miserably. The thing is, is that I
have literally tried everything. My mom is even a teacher and has always tried to help me
so much. I have a specific doctor even that deals mainly with that sort of thing and I have
been taking Adderall (I have not been proven to have ADD or ADHD but it is prescribed to
me just for the extra help) but even that hasn't ever made a difference when it comes to
my final grades. I am just lazy and unmotivated and I never put in the time or effort that I
need to. Some people tell me that I just need to make myself do the work but it is just not
as easy as that to me. When people say that to me its like someone asking a smoker why
they just don't quit or why they just don't stop smoking. It's because its hard and not an
easy thing to do. (I'm not even a smoker). I have tried many different prescriptions, tried
tutors, and different things. Basically I'm at the point where I literally have thrown in the
towel to doing well in school. I am still going to get a degree no matter what it takes but I
just feel like its going to take FOREVER! I have failed one class, withdrawn from another
(inorder to prevent myself from failing), and I have basically been still getting D's and C's
in all my classes. Which means, that most of my time is just wasted since colleges don't
accept anything lower than a C. Anyways, I was just wondering if there is anyone out there
like me who sucks at school as much as me who maybe has some advice or something.
Thanks!!!!
personally my opinion to that is that you don't need any prescription or what... the thing is that you are aware of of the scenario you are going through then fight against yourself i mean it's a mind over matter system... you know you can, it's just that whenever you will be encounter the same incident (failing for some reason) the tendency is since you are aware of your situation you will just be reasoning it out to yourself that because the doctor said blah, blah so on and so fort... you know your capacity, then do something to help yourself...
