19/F/Greenbush, Maine Join Date: Aug 2005 | So, I picked up a nice compaq (yeah, I realize that's an oxymoron) tower, monitor and printer at a yard sale for $20, which was an incredibly sweet deal; 80GB hd, 512DDR memory, 2.8ghz processor running xp pro.
I brought it home, plugged it in, fired it up. At first the black screen came up saying windows had been improperly shut down, what did I want to do, I chose start windows normally, then--bam, blue screen saying umounted_boot_volume.
That didn't phase me; I just swapped my working hard drive from my hp desktop--which was working--and put it in as the master. I got another blue screen, which just said "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage because it's retarded.

...help... I don't have an xp setup disk, as even my other computer was bought second hand, and I'm really not into pirating something off limewire or anything.
(I ran the repair function on it, and the results came up saying nothing was really wrong. So both the stock hard drive with a working OS on it and my other [both of them with XP pro] won't boot.)
 If you don't like my driving, stay off the sidewalk. *scoffs* Little kids... | | | Edited: June 02, 2007 @ 20:36 | |
