god is an EVIL FICTITIOUS PRICK, what the bible says is just an opinion, it is no more relevent than someones opinion on this forum, no wait its alot less relevent because the bible was written more then 2000 years ago and people were totaly barbaric and stupid back then. haveing an abortion does not hurt anybody, the baby is just a collection of cells, it shoud be her choice to have an abortion, because unlike murder no one gets hurt

That's the point that a lot of people miss these days.
Most people like to jump on the "but it's muuuurder " bandwagon and preach about how the fetus is still a person. I agree with both of the statements, the fetus is indeed a person despite it's level of development (consider: the human body is not fully developed until about age 21 or so) and aborting a fetus is still the killing of a human.
Now having said that, let's bring in some logic.
Forcing a woman to withstand pregnancy is cruel and unusual punishment, and I do not claim this based on the idiots who try homemade abortion techniques with hangers and whatnot, but instead for the welfare of mother and child alike. Despite the physical trauma, refusing a woman access to SAFE, LEGAL abortion practices can also do untold amounts of damage to her mental health.
So now you've got a depressed and suicidal preggo...then along comes baby.

Hopefully this deranged mother hasn't been pumping herself full of alcohol or drugs (ahem, think of BABY), so the delivery may go fine. They might leave the hospital together, that is if baby doesn't get thrown away somewhere (don't think it doesn't happen). Let's say they make it home and mom's still upset. How do you think she'll treat this child? Do you think she gives a hell if it needs to be fed? Fast forward about six years. Can you explain the bruises on the child's face, or why it doesn't seem to be very hapy with a mother who tells him everyday that he was a mistake? CAN YOU IMAGINE THE TYPE OF PERSON THIS BABY WILL TURN OUT TO BE?

Now I've heard people say that abortion is painful to the fetus.
Even if that's true, we must keep in mind that it won't be around much longer to feel it.

As sad as that is, I think that the momentary pain of a fetus is better than the lifetime of hurt, shame, and lonliness that a forced-birth child would be subjected to.

Pro-lifers...are you really considering baby when you testify for the right to live? Or are you just upholding empty morals...
Think about it.

I don't agree with everything said above (hell, WE'RE just a collection of cells for f**k's sake...) but I do encourage people to keep their religious beliefs to themselves.

What is so wrong with it being the womans choice? It's not affecting anyone else if a woman choses to abort besides that person. They are the ones that have to live with it for the rest of their lives, not anyone else. Well besides the father. That is if he knows about it. If people are so pro-life about this, then why don't the go to every abortion clinic and offer to adopt that child? I don't see that happening. There are times that I feel that its wrong when woman get an abortion. Like when the woman uses it as a type of birth control. That is just wrong. They should have learned from the first one. USE BIRTH CONTROL.

I have never seen it put quite this way. well an abortion does bring to an end potential life. Euthanasia I'm not sure, if used for birth control imo it is just wrong

I used to be pro-life because of my assumptions that it was a whore's way out of responsibility.

all evidence points to what i said, iv never seen anyone come up with any evience or even any imformation about who or what wrote the bible.

seems like bronze age saddests to me

So it's better to have an unwanted child then to not have a child that was not entirely loathed? Counseling takes time. Most unplanned pregnancies aren't discovered until about 8 weeks. If there's no option after 12 weeks, you need to get it done straight away.
My friend had an abortion last year (she was 15, manic depressive, no way to keep a child), found out at 8 weeks and because of all the tests they had to do first, only could 4 weeks later. Leaving it will let the hormones take hold making the choice harder and less realistic.

I knew someone who worked in an abortion clinic and she said that often the same faces would return over and over again. For those ladies, contraception was against their religious beliefs so unwanted pregnancies were aborted. It didn't make sense to me and I'm not really sure if she got that right. I find the thought of abortion very disturbing, it's not to be taken lightly. prevention is better than cure, I know accidents happen but the attitude that abortion is a problem delt with comes from a naive mind. I have a friend who had one in the very early stages because of pressure from her husband and she is haunted by it. The guilt she feels on the anniversary of the abortion and the baby's due date is dreadful and she is full of regret. I think that only specail circumstances ie, rape victims or medical complications can justify an abortion, but thats just my opinion.

i think it's a personal choice.

if the girl does not want the child, how can you force her to do so?

that's unfair to everyone involved, and yes, she should have thought about that before she got pregnant, but sh*t happens and you can't expect a young girl to sacrifice the rest of her life for making a stupid decision.
