In general a cull is carried out to control population. If one species is gaining the upper hand over another then humans decide to cull the stronger one.
I think this is wrong, not because all the fluffy animals that die, but because it is interfering with natural selection.
You could claim that in doing the cull and with our ever expanding knowledge of everything that culling is our way of keeping balance and therefore part of evolution, what do you think?
At least for now, this is what has to be done to control certain animal populations. Nature is a brutal mistress. If the animal population supasses the environments carring capacity, than it will crash and many times they will take others with them.
For those that feel that humans are a blight on nature, there is hope. There is evidence that preditors are adapting to living with humans. Namely the the cyote and mountain lion in the US. I think that this trend will continue, however we must not forget that we are in the food chain so beware that which you wish for.
