@Corey Said
I think it is plain that North Korea will not give up it's missile or nuclear programs. The leaders are unresponsive to the suffering of the citizens. Sanctions will not work. We can't stop North Korea from becoming a nuclear power, it is already a nuclear power. Invasion is not an option unless a much larger war is anticipated. A few dozen tomahawk missiles will not solve the problem either. If North Korea is attacked it is likely China will defend them. So there it is layed out.
We just have to respect North Korea as a Nuclear Power, and move ahead accordingly. All this saber rattling and bravado bragging and drum beating will not change the reality of the situation. And don't think for a moment that we can go it alone.
Corey.
I think part of the problem is even if we try to treat Lil' Kim as an adult, he will still threaten and taunt the West under his paranoid delusions of grandeur. He's worse that his father, Sick Kim.
As far as Military Force: I don't think a decapitation would work, because there are probably plenty behind him that would be the same - or worse.
That would leave only one other option: Regime Change
... do you think the world would cry foul if China just annexed the North and took care of "the problem"?
It would be a double edged sword: SK would be rid of an unpredictable nut-bag right on their border, but then they would have a real super power on their doorstep.
