Exactly. Toothpaste isn't exactly meant for eating. That's why it taste the way it does.

I love chocolate.
But I would actually prefer the minty clean feeling when I brush my teeth. Just doesn't seem right.
I don't even like vanilla mint flavoured toothpaste. It's too sweet and makes me feel like I am getting sugar on my teeth.

In 2005, Unilever Philippines marketed a limited edition chocolate flavoured fluoride toothpaste. Close up Flavalicious toothpaste in Choco Loco might not be as strange as it sounds, however: The research of Tulane University doctoral candidate Arman Sadeghpour shows that an extract of cocoa powder protects teeth, and is in fact, more effective than fluoride when it comes to cavity prevention .

That toothpaste is nauseating, but you just gave me another reason to eat chocolate.
