its really weird to it..its like this,,, a long time ago.. when my ex broke up with me i was crying like a drama queen.. but he sorta snickered.. I know his reaction was not to sincerly see me in pain...

Yeah...

His reaction was to seeing you in pain. For too many men, a woman's weeping or begging over him makes him feel important.

I think someone mentioned it earlier but 'reaction formation' would be the closest psychological term for the situation you're describing.

As someone else said it can describe other behaviors as well, like speaking out against something whilst doing that very thing yourself but it also covers reactions that would better suit an exact opposite situation.

Like laughing or smiling when caught doing something bad or in an emotionally charged situation. Psychoanalysts would call it a defense mechanism that someone might use when they subconsciously want to avoid dealing with the situations and would rather ignore it.

Sounds like a similar description, but reaction formation and inappropriate affect (both psychological terms btw) are two different things. This that is being described is inappropriate affect.

Nervous laughter.

It's a good thing.

Much better than taking a cake knife to the problem.

Coping.

People use humor to cope with anything that is difficult or painful to deal with.

I have an exaggerated sense of humor and I've also gone through several traumatic events. A smile or a giggle can be a reaction to anything painful or awkward.

It actually means that the person is actually a demon operative sent from H-E-DOUBLEHOCKEYSTICKS on a recruiting mission who hasn't yet figured out the trick of recognizable human emotions because they didn't study enough of the Demon of Satan's Legionnaire Human Assimilation Handbook.

Psychopathy... at least, that's what my doctor calls it when I laugh at the misfortune of others.
