People are very very picky over their phones. It's like Apple vs Microsoft vs Linux. People choose their sides and then defend them with great vigor.
My only suggestion, if you do get a smartphone, is to stay away from anything running Windows Mobile. The Imagio, Touch Diamond, Touch Pro/Pro 2, Omnia, etc etc. Windows Mobile sucks and is very archaic compared to the other options (WebOS, which is on the Pre; Android, the Google OS, which is on the Eris, Hero, G1, MyTouch, Moment, and Droid; iPhone).
i have a g1 its brilliant for going on line. I can get on face book. just cant get farm town on it as flash player wont load onto it but i can get on here on it no probs
only thing i dont like is you cant blue tooth stuff from phone to phone android market not got software for it yet.

Neither of those phones specifies what operation system they use, so I can't tell. The OS is the main thing I check for first and then after that it's just a matter of what specifications you want, really. Personally, I wouldn't touch a phone running the Windows Mobile operating system with a ten foot pole, my preference is for Android. Windows Mobile is known to be very slow and crash often.
I think these have Windows Mobile OS as I usually see phones with different OS, i.e. RIM (Blackberry), Droid, and others. The Verizon agent I spoke to said I didn't need a SmartPhone or a Blackberry to access the Internet, but I'm beginning to believe that's what I should get. I've pretty much ruled out at&t. I'm just looking for good phones before calling the local carriers. I can't get the one you have, the Pre is too expensive at the moment as is the one jonnythan has, and I just can't seem to decide what's best for me. It's easier to ask people that I talk to here because the reviews aren't consistent. Sorry to keep bothering you.

I just got the Motorola Droid. Any suggestions for downloading java for it? I went to the java site and didn't have any luck. I'm not familiar with what version this phone needs and I can't watch videos without it. It'll take me months to figure out all the little features.
You typically can't watch videos on mobile phones unless there is a dedicated app for a specific site, such as how there is a youtube app that I believe comes Standard on Android. I can't wait til Flash is supported, the motorola site said it's coming to the Android in 2010.

Noooooo! I thought I read that this does have flash. I even told the guy that I probably wouldn't be watching movies and videos that much. He said, "Yes, you will." I was on MySpace when I tried to listen to something just to check out the sound of the phone. On that note, I just discovered one of my PC speakers is blown.

Mobile browsers don't support web-based Java applets, I'm afraid.
Droid is getting popular it seems. Kyahbean's dad just got one today as well.
That jerk told me I could watch movies on this thing. I was telling him about another carrier having a phone that supports movie viewing.
