I met a girl who redefines the need for college. At fifteen she started teaching children and now, at the tender age of twenty, she teaches adult education for one of the major recruitment companies of Barcelona, Two Times Sytem. Her name is Anrea Nola

This begs the question of who is college life for? Is it possible to live it in less than four years, or is Andrea an example of what the human being could better achieve without college life?

Am I to believe from the lack of responses that the answer is no, that Andrea is so exceptional that onyl a few achieve what she can. How sad. It's really unfortunate that people like Andrea and Queen Amidala are representatives of minorities, while the rest of society has to spend years of study instead of find worthy positions at a young age.

College or university is for anyone who has the motivation to actually work independently and get a qualification that looks great when applying for a job in the future. Obviously it isn't for everyone, but for those who have the drive to want to continue their education then it's a great thing.

I honestly cannot wait to go to uni, I've even been dreaming about it lately, strangely enough.

When I do go I intend to be there for 5 years as I want to do a Postgraduate degree as well as an Undergraduate degree, but there are shorter courses on offer I would think.

I share your belief that people who are motivated to go to uni should go, but not to pump themselves up for a job. We don't need to advertize ourselves to get ahead in life, rather dedicate ourselves to a cause and then follow it, wherever it may lead us. I am a university graduate too, but I once had a chance to thrive in life and I didn't because I didn't feel like it. I see now how I wasted a chance to make an early life in animal care at the age of 17. I could have followed an access course that would have taken me to something specific.

at least the in U.S., most people go to college because they feel they have to to be successful in life. in fact most employers don't really care what you major in as long as you have a diploma. all that diploma is saying is that you can stick to something for an extended period of time and accomplish your goal. its sad but its true.

A diploma is important as a referece. However we cannot have too much academic material. It must be balanced with experience in life. I hope to achieve precisely this by completing my course in Handling and going to Gerona airport to work, putting into practice what I know and earning my reputation for being a reliable employee as well as a competent student.
