Those really aren't conservative ideas, so much as the Christian right. Where I am coming from with the idea that libertarians are the extreme right is that they are strict constitutionalists with absolutely no room for change.
Not necessarily. More like they believe the constitution is for limiting government power and guaranteeing freedom. Today that is completely ignored.

The modern meaning of the word, yes. Look how many of them idolize socialism and dictators. They are for regulating and taxing people into slavery for our own good as they like to put it.
If you are talking about modern "liberals," then I agree.

It is because it's a living changing document.
Not really. That is code words to say the constitution is trash and should be ignored.

The foundations may be sound. But saying it has to only be in there in black and white is like making the Space Shuttle based on Frigate ship blue-prints. Things change and evolve.

The biggest thing to me is this; change is good, but change for changes sake can be dangerous. We should be careful in the laws we allow our representatives to pass, and I do mean allow, because ultimately they are responsible to us.

Man, I am glad to see that. Most of the time we are at the opposite ends of the spectrum, but we found something we can agree on.

Some things in the constitution are concrete and should always be. Like the freedoms it guarantees. To change that is like shooting your foot off.

Are you talking about the Bill of Rights in association with the rest of the work, or just the constitution, in and of itself.

Can anyone here explain the difference between a conservative and a libertarian?
A conservative is someone who opposes change, sees society as in a state of decay and thinks it is moving away from an age in the past which was pure and virtuous. A liberal/libertarian is someone thinks change represents progress, and society was worse in the past. These definitions are quite flexible though, and might be used differently in different contexts. For example, a liberal may sometimes be described simply as someone who supports political freedom; of course, many people who are considered "conservatives" also extol freedom.

Actually, as far as American politics go, a libertarian would be more apposed to change than a conservative would.
