First of all, hi! OK am sure this is a dumb question that gets asked all the time but how on earth do you get over writers block? I get into writing stories intermittently but then at some point lose a little interest and find it hard to get back into, I have plenty of ideas but sometimes struggle on how to put them all together! Any general writing tips would also be gratefully received, thanks!

just stick with it. I'm like that, i have so many ideas i find it hard to stick with them.

I find, write a rough outline of something, and have two or three (for me its poems / songs) on the go, and work on the ones you feel most in tune with at the time.

Welcome.
I get writers block quite often. The best thing to do, it not to stress over it and find something else to occupy your mind. The answers will come when you don't think about it.
I have come up with 1 or 2 great stories using this method.
Let inspiration come to you instead of looking for it.

Hello and welcome, boobear.

I've read many things on that topic and it's usually just to write about anything, not to focus and force yourself.

Good luck.

Wow, thanks everyone, shall definitely take all that advice into account! Basically I need to stop being a lazy bum and distracted by other things and get on it! I don't write professionally no, but if I had the confidence and/or talent I would love to one day!

And i'm from neither side, sitting on the fence on that one as am actually not scouse!

I am new as well, but not to writing. Im not saying Im good at it, either. But to get over writer's block, if there is one particular topic you are trying to write about, then just get a pencil and a piece of paper and just write down whatever is on your mind at the time. When Im trying to write an essay for school, but a lyric is on my mind, I write it first. Quickly and efficiently. Dont make it perfect. Once you do that, youll find that your mind is clear of that thought. It may not apply to you, but thats what i do at least.
