The best subway system I've ever been on is the Metro in Washington D.C. Clean, efficient and the routes are easy to decode too. They even have a station that puts you right in the middle of the Smithsonian.
I just wish they had a station closer to the National Cathedral. You have to walk about(if memory serves me right), ten blocks.
Unfortunately, DC is only a fabricated town and everything but everything in it --is an illusion.

20/M/Edinburgh, United Kingdom Join Date: May 2006 | Yeah, it can be quite annoying. There is one train an hour from Glasgow to Aberdeen and it used to be absolutely packed until Dundee. Would be very lucky to get a decent amount of space on the train, never mind a seat. Then at Dundee everyone would leave and the train would be half empty!
Weirdly enough there is one train every half hour from Stirling to Edinburgh, which is almost always completely empty, usually four or five people per carriage. It would make more sense to have two trains an hour going to Aberdeen than going to Edinburgh, but ah well.
I prefer busy trains to busy busses to be honest.
