If you mean what I think you mean, I fully appreciate that my capacity to question the purpose of a military-oriented tradition like this would be greatly lessened were it not for the allies defeating Nazism. With that in mind, perhaps the best way to show my appreciation for the defeat of totalitarianism is by subverting the norm and choosing to be different.
