I think the trouble is kids vote for the song rather than the performance. The twins had a modern pop song, while everyone else had crap old songs that most people in the demographic that vote for X-Factor have never heard before and don't like.

I don't think they made the most of that band either. If I had a 35-piece orchestra at my disposal, I'd make them play Meat Loaf songs

I agree some of the song choices have been awful!

I think it's because of poor song choice. She didn't do songs that appeal to kids. It's obviously kids that do all the voting otherwise John & Edward wouldn't keep getting through.
