You have one fact correct. Earth temperature has increased. The other fact is that the rest is "opinion, theory, and speculation." That makes two facts.

And we might add that back in the fifteenth century, Earth temperature became colder. That makes three facts.

And the facts just keep coming.

Edit: And thems that say that scientist concur about global warming speak with forked tongue. That makes four facts.

This is such a complex issue. Ice ages have come and gone pre humans with global warming in between. Cows may give off more 'green house' gasses than humans but it is humans who manage the many cow heards. Some say we should eat grain based foods directly than feed these to animals which we then eat. If each human does something then some impact will happen for good or bad BUT all this depends on us doing something. Showers not baths, using rainwater buts to collect water and not using hoses to wash cars etc. People can quote 'evidence', numbers etc. An issue is also the speed of change, the rate at which are being produced with developing countries trying to catch up with 'our' GDPs so burning much more 'fossil' fuels. And so on. Government's and individuall's acts all contribute. All of us need open minds and hearts. But especially register and vote in ellections, get our woices heard!

Now this really is bizarre. Both of the people who have quoted me when I log on seem to have absolutely no idea of the difference between a scientific theory and the colloquial use of the word.

And the reason why such a claim is misleading to anyone capable of reading this graph:

Do you ever wonder why the panic-mongers start their reporting in 1880 or later?

Instrument readings of the average global temperature have been collected since 1850. Why is the first 30 years of data always excluded?

The reason - in the late 1870's there was a sharp drop in the average temperature. If you factor ALL available data then you see a global increase in the average temperature of only 0.6 degrees (Celsius).

But many prefer to be dishonest. They begin their reporting as the cold snap ends and the Earth begins to warm. By excluding the first 30 years of data they can claim that the temperature has gone up by 4 or 5 degrees.

Re-read the post.
If ALL available data is factored then the increase is around 0.6 degrees Celsius.
If several decades are excluded then the increase is several degrees.

Remember the conference at Kyoto (the meeting that produced the Kyoto Accords)?
The Press touted a letter praising the meeting and proclaiming the need for the Accords. The letter was signed by several hundred scientists around the world. The Press ignored the fact that a second letter protested the conference and decried the faulty science used to reach the assumptions used in the Accords. It was signed by thousands of scientists.

Yes, the hoopla about global warming do be bizarre, but maybe not abnormal. Popular ideas, like old bureaucrats, linger past their time.

Could it be that the Maunder Minimum was still in effect? The Little Ice Age was the result of almost zero solar activity(sun spots and solar flares) producing abnormally colder temps for 40 yrs. world wide. Added to that a huge volcanic eruption in Indonesia produced snow in the summer of 1816 in the northern hemisphere,after the 1815 eruption of mount Tambora!
