That's arguable, actually.
There's obviously no way to sterilize your environment. There's no way to even come anywhere close to anything remotely resembling anything like sterilization.
No matter what we do, we are going to be bombarded by millions and millions of bacteria and other germs every day.
It's conceivable to me that amid this onslaught certain concentrated sources of germs, like keyboards or cell phones, can attack you with enough bacteria to actually weaken your immune system by giving it too much for it to handle efficiently. If that's the case (and I have no idea if it is), it makes sense that cleaning these surfaces of a large portion of their pathogens can help limit the effect.
