My house is the old home stead house my great grand parents built when they came here in 1911 they started building it then and it was finished 1915 it's 18 inch rock wall and flag stone floors with vegas and a rock fire place . When my grand dad gave me the place in 1984 the walls still had the original whitewash which is what people used back then instead of paint it is lime mixed with water . I have plastered the walls and updated the doors and windows my furniture is all handed down from my great grand parents and grand parents my kitchen stove is a very modern combination wood and propane cook stove so in the summer I use the propane side and in the winter I use the wood burning side. i did up date the 'ice box' to a refrigerator and updated the 'bath room to a rest room and had electricity and phone installed but other then that it's pretty much the same as when it was built.
There just ain't a hell of alot that can be 'remodeled ' when all the walls and floors are rock.
What are the themes in each room? By that, I mean do you have flowers, earth tones, or other colors of nick knacks?

My kitchen is a combo of pale lime pale lemon and a soft Lt.blue with my collection of old enamel ware (all old enough to have no markings or marked 'made in the USA) and my collection of old china no two pieces alike displayed on a cupboard my grand dad made for grand ma when they moved into their first home together. and my cast iron hung on the wall behind my cook stove. the front room is what was suppose to be a sea green but I swear it's just plain ole Lt grey. I have mt gr. grand dads roll top desk and gr grand ma's queen Anne piano and her queen treadle sewing machine mixed up with a futon (cuz thats the 'guest room' if ever I have ant guests' ) and a couple of floor lamps I got out of an old hotel in town that my son and hubby was hired on to do some repair work to some rock work during a remodel the south wall is 3 12 x 5 tinted glass panels that came out of an ols service station that was being torn down after some drunk had smashed into the side of the building. the glass very thick and is actually tint colored not coated like now days. there are shelves across the whole width of the wall spaced 2 ft and 4 inches so I get the light ,well I would except for all the old stuff we seem to drag home every time one of us leave . I have always collected humming birds and owls nick knacks and am a nut about taking pic of grand kids and the mountains around here is you can't hardly see much of the grey walls.(pretty cluttered) the bath room has old barn lumber that we planed and thompson sealer the cupboards and bottom half of the walls with a tea rose paint top half of walls the tub is claw footed and the sink is it's mate of far as age I have my great grand ma's dry sink in there with the beveled mirror and pitcher and wash bowl set ,it's not old a lady in town makes them ,they look really old but mines only about 15 years . my room will someday become a bed room but for the last twenty years it's been the catch all room . for all the odds and ends that I can't bear to part with but don't have room for any where else.
Damn now that I've been looking around and seeing all this dust collecting clutter I see it's all in need of some attention of a dust rag and a broom . My prize possession is a hand painted beveled mirror from some time in the 1700 hundreds back when mirrors were hand made at home . I found it in a antique store paid forty dollars for it in 1995.
Thanks alot Panda .
I could have just said cluttered and dusty .
 Won't work/Ta-Ta!!
Well, if crime fighters fight crime and fire fighters fight fire, what do freedom fighters fight? They never mention that part to us, do they?
