I am pro choice. It would be more cruel to bring an unwanted child into the world than abort, IMO.

Do you think that a woman/wife should have the right to go to an abortion clinic and sign off on an abortion without her husband/the father?

I think that the woman/wife should atleast mention the pregnancy to the husband/father; Hell, even mention it in passing!I don't think it would be right for her to sneak off and get an abortion without atleast talking about it.

I agree. The father should be consulted and his opinion should be taken into account. If he wants to raise the child and the mother does not, then she should consider giving that child to him, however, the woman must have the final say. If someone tried to force me into giving birth, I'd trip down the stairs on 'accident'.

I'm pro-choice all the way. I don't think I could ever forgive myself if I had an abortion, but I wouldn't dream of imposing my personal feelings about a fetus in my body, onto another woman making a decision about her own body and fetus. If I hace the right to choose to keep a baby, it would be hypocritical of me to negatively opine on any woman's choice, whether it be to keep or abort a pregnancy. We have the legal right to choose, and IMO, a moral responsibility to allow a woman to do what she feels is the best thing for her. Is having an abortion a selfish thing? Depends on the reason, but it's just as selfish as choosing to keep and raise a baby.

Lets look at abortion from a proper point of view. Lets first start with why abortion is even legal. During Roe v Wade the entire argument and decision made to make abortion legal was based on the 14th ammendment. Abortion, legally is considered an extension of the right to privacy in that ammendment. Is that ethical? How bout the fact that after 4 weeks of gestation the child has its own bloodstream. Does that make it apart of the woman's body? I would say not. Would it not be murder to kill something that is alive? Yes, a woman has the right to decide what she wants to do with HER body. However an unborn child is not apart of HER body. The unborn child is a life of its own, thus making it a new human being. So does it make it ethical to commit murder? As a man i'm not saying I understand what it would be like to carry a child or be in that position. But a man has just as much right to say yes or no if it is their child. The argument that a man will not be there to take care of the child even though they say they will be is not a valid reasoning to use in the discussion of abortion. What about the entire point of contraceptives? is it not to prevent pregnancies? If you were stupid enough not to use a contraceptive that would be your consequence.

Abortion has not only made society as a whole selfish, but irresponsible. If you have an opinion on this ok. But if you use the argument that a woman has the right to make decisions for their body, then you need to think harder about what you support and why. Cause thats not a fully valid reason either

I agree. How are we meant to understand something like this if we haven't been in the position in which we have to choose? It's easy to say pro-life, not so easy if your pregnant with a child you can't support.

A child should really be wanted(just my opinion) so abortion is acceptable when no child is desired.

true. when a child is conceived, it usually is out of desire for children, but there are many situations where the child is not legitimate and its not wanted

Annually, 46 million babies die from abortion worldwide. That’s approximately one baby being aborted every two seconds.

link [voiceofrevolution.askdrbrown.org]

Can anyone tell me honestly that figure is acceptable?

I fully agree that there is a need for this procedure in certain circumstances, but you cant possibly tell me that 46 million pregnancies in one year were mostly unpreventable. Thats 46 million little people never being given a chance because the majority were just a mere inconvienience to the mother.

People need to be educated more about prevention rather than cure, a fetus has a beating heart at 5 weeks gestation, IMO if there is a heart beat there is life.

As I said there is a need for it but surely not on such a huge scale?

the fact that the scale is so huge is a big reason as for why there is such a need for it... what would we do with 46 million unwanted babies? there are aleady well over a hundred thousand unwanted kids in any given year in this country alone... we dont even know what to do for them, so how could we reasonabley up that number to the high millions?

though i do agree that prevention education is vital, whatever position a person holds on the subject of abortion...

Its ridiculous how upset men get over this issue. We are not the people going through it so i do not know what makes us so passionate about it. ( I am in no way saying that human life and human dignity is not sumthing to get passionate about) Im saying we have no right to tell a female what to do with her body.

The fact that we have no right to tell a woman what to do with her body arbitrarily is the exact reason why I am passionate on the issue. As that is exactly what the prolifers try to do.

Many would argue that a fetus - with its own DNA, own (often incompatible) blood type, etc - is not part of the woman's body.

I would argue that some point of the umbilical cord would have to eventually be declared part of the woman's body at which point it can simply be cut.

I would also argue that an acorn has its own dna but since it is not a sentient or capable of feeling pain its life or death is of no concern.
