Some of it.

I know someone who read the books, they sound better than the show was, but I liked the show too, and I don't like anime at all.

Yes, I also enjoyed Death Note and Elfen Lied. I can definitely see why they are recommended so much.

I read the manga of Elfen Lied though instead of watching the anime but I think I still got the full effects of what was going on.

As for Death Note I preferred the anime because it was only 37 episodes instead of 110 chapters ^_^ Ended up finish it in one weekend because I watched the episodes back to back -.-'

I can't really recommend any anime/manga to look into since I've by comparison to many people, I've seen very little and the ones I'm reading now would put you in the long hall to finish >.>

With the exception of one though: Soul Eater.
The manga varies to the anime (in the ending at least). Worth a look at in my opinion :D

Death Note is my favorite anime!!

. I plan to re watch it after i finish a couple other shows I am watching.
