He is right, to many fathers talk the talk but do not walk the walk.
Anybody can get a female pregnant, only a man stays and raises that child with her.

Maybe the genetic testing is a good idea. as long as a child comes into this world and has good parents that child be the difference between night and day of a child that was brought up in a broken home or a foster home

how much do you think it would cost to force everybody to have blood tests? could you reasonabley expect the devoted couple to front the cost to prove that the child they know is theirs is indeed theirs?

A: If it was universally mandated the cost would shrink to a fraction of it's current level. The identification of parenthood is a simple test too, it doesn't require a great deal, and the technology is improving all the time.
Many unfortunate fathers have discovered one way or another that they aren't the biological parent after all, significant numbers of them as testing has become more common. I make no judgment as to how this happens, but it is a fact nonetheless. Since any honest mother has absolutely nothing to fear from such a test it doesn't seem reasonable to object to it, in my book.
It would certainly save a lot of people a lot of pain later on, and prevent the true father from evading his responsibilities.
Altogether, it sounds like a win/win, so why not?

i dunno... i can see testing if the father wishes it, but it seems like such a pointless waste otherwise...

You cant stop abortion, no matter what. The fault with prolifers making abortion illegal is that the number of illegal abortions will go up, and most illegal abortions lead to serious injury or death to the woman.

Seriously, prolifers can believe all they want, abortion will never cease.

Prolifers usually dont even have a plan. I think all prolifers should adopt 2 kids. Cant afford it? well now you know what the women getting abortions feels like.

I don't see saving a significant number of fathers and children a lot of heartache and pain as being pointless. It would also save millions in court time and lawyers fees, and make a lot of medical options viable, surely all good points too?
It seems to be a case of "why not", there's much to gain and little to lose.

I think the father should have a say to some extent, but I'd never want a woman to be pushed into a situation where she feels violated and has no choice. Where that would be to have an abortion, or not.

No woman should EVER be compelled to abort, no matter what the situation. Preventing it is one thing, but forcing it is just wrong, pure and simple.

Not that I think a man should be able to force an abortion, but if we can MAKE him be a father, isn't it a little unfair to not give the guy a break? I don't think we should be so hard on them. This isn't to say if the child REALLY needs help he shouldn't be somewhat responsible. Just, don't force him into the childs life if he doesn't want to be there.

Women can give it up for adoption or abort it, but if she decides to keep it, often times the guy is forced into parenthood.
Not everyone wants to be a parents. Not everyone would make a good parent.

Bloody complicated isn't it!
I don't think there's any simple answers, we can only play the cards life deals us, and do our best.
