I didn't go that far. I just separated the leaves and poured the water. Mine did just fine and it was near death when I inherited it.

I am an evil giraffe, and I shall eat more leaves from this tree then prehaps I should, so that other giraffes may die

Ok, I'm determined to try to keep this plant alive. I watered it this morning, and I'm going to use my boss' office window so it can get sunlight because my office has only fluorescent lighting. I'll let you guys know how it goes

I have a brown thumb with every other plant, but for some reason I can grow the African violet. I once brought one that was almost dead back to normal with dr pepper. I grew new plants from the one I gave dr pepper and had plants all over the office for a while.
