Just look at this Microsoft advert

The Polish version has the black man crudely photoshopped out. Well his head that is.

This isn't the first time adverts have had non-whites airbrushed out for Poland. The advertisers want to sell, and the story goes, non-whites don't sell in Poland.

There was a story a few years ago, some employees at a car plant in England, found themselves photoshopped out of a company photograph when it was used in Poland

Nah, they aren't being racists, are we suppose to show black people full stop in order to pander to the political correct?

I remember hearing about that incident. Are Polish people the ones who are being racist then and not the advertisers?

But shouldn't it be about merits and not about the racist card or feminists

Maybe the one with the black guy is the racist one. Exploiting him just to make MS seem like a politically correct organisation.

Or maybe it's just that people are more likely to buy a product if they identify with the people in the advert, and there aren't many black people in Poland. Mind you the other guy looks East Asian, and I wouldn't expect Poland to have a large East Asian population either. But I'm just guessing, I have no idea of Poland ethnic make-up.

I'm not sure where this should be ,here in the
News & Politics forums or in the Racism forums.
I am well aware if the ' human error' factor and also the 'make money with advertising ' way of doing business.
But IMO this sort of marketing mistake as it is called in the article should not even have ever happened for the simple reason that any company that is an 'equal opportunity' employer and have made profits all over the world should think that any One country should be 'catered' to in any way except advertising in that countries language.

From
livenews.com

Quote:

Microsoft has belatedly issued an apology for editing a black man out of a photo posted to its official website.

Poland is very racially homogenous and critics admit it would not be unreasonable for Microsoft to use a different image to suit a different audience, but have condemned the company for simply superimposing a new head onto someone else's body.

On Microsoft's official page on the social network site Twitter, a posting calls the swap "a marketing mistake" and offers "sincere apologies."

I've heard of colleges photoshopping black people into photos to make themselves seem more diverse

I guess it goes both ways

It seems like it would be just as easy to go out and take a photo of actual students on the actual campus .
Unless there isn't any black people attending classes at those colleges.
