I have a sudden pain that occurs mostly when I'm doing things at work...particularly when I use the stapler

Some recently told me that it was carpal tunnel, but everything I'm reading about carpal tunnel indicates that the pain is near the base of your thumb with CT. My pain is more to the outside of my wrist. Nothing I'm reading about CT is really all that helpful since they only talk about sudden pains.

I have a doctor's appointment in a few weeks and plan to talk to her about it (if I remember, since 99% of the time, it hasn't bothered me lately when I go). Just wondering if anyone can point me to a website that might help me figure this out

Try using one of those hot/cold packs, massage therapy, and doing exercises that focus on building strong wrists.

I have CT, and it hurts (sometimes) from the tip of my fingers (they sometimes go numb) to the inside of my elbow (all depending on how much activity). I've been to a doctor, and she told me it was CT.

Idk about the base of your thumb thing, although I have had pain there, but not since I've stopped playing guitar.

Do you mean the top of your wrist? If so, that can be CT as well.
CT can affect your whole forearm.

Buy a wrist brace, mine is really nice and REALLY helps.

Whatever it is, it will either get better on it's own, or kill you..

So, no use in worrying about it.

ahhhh, I wish life were just that simple.
Sometimes it can be, but for the most part, we're thinkers.

If I went to my doctor and told him that I got a sharp pain in my wrist when I used the stapler, he would tell me to stop using the stapler.

He's a common sense sort of guy that way.

Have him give you a note saying that you're not allowed to staple things, and then force your boss to hire you a "stapling minion". Then slowly train the stapling minion to do all of the stuff that you hate to do at work, while you drink iced lattes.

At least that would be my plan.

Sounds like repetitive strain injury ie - over use of the hand. I have the same problem due to my one hand affected by polio so use the other for everything and its very painful

Same, I get it because I rest my wrist on the desk whilst using the mouse, so after a while it hurts and turns a bit red.
