haha well i tried
yes we do have pie, but not the way they have overseas and we see on tv, we only put meat in our pies, dont really have fruit and things in them, mostly we just have chicken pie

and yes, afrikaans sounds a bit harsh when spoken
that's why it's quite fun to speak around people who dont understand it
but it's quite a dodgy language, anything you say can be missinterpreted... it's quite funny haha...

i guess it sounds more like dutch than german...

haha took me a while to figure out what you meant

but yes... 'boerewors' and 'koeksisters'

biltong is the best thing on this earth

and oh yes, we love our meat, we have lots of 'braais'
that's like a babaque but you just make a fire with wood in the sand or in a fireplace type thing haha
meat and potatoes and rice, that's our main food

hmm do you even get biltong overseas?

Yeah it looks a lot like dutch.

Here's some Dutch, understand it?

Ik ben de groote kaas.

In high school I knew some people from South Africa who could speak Afrikaans. I was friends with their son, and the woman was my English teacher for a while.

hello devonr
jou afrikaans is nie te sleg nie
is dit nog steeds so dat almal dit op skool moet doen? ai tog, jy hou seker nie veel daarvan nie

so jy is Afrikaans! Ek praat ook byna vlot Afrikaans, omdat ek my dit self geleerd het. Hoe gaan dit met jou? En hoe gaan dit alles in Suidafrika?

Ich bin 3 mal nach Deutschland geflogen**

and also "Ek kan 'n bietjie Afrikaans praat, maar nie baie lekker nie. Ons moet dit leer by ons skool." means: i speak a little a little Afrikaans, but not very well, we had to learn it in school
