Why does other life have to be intelligent?

"Intelligent life" is capable of communication and civilization.

Unintelligent life is not.

i disagree. there is too much that we don't understand, scientifically speaking. there is a lot to learn, and when we realize just how much there is to learn then we realize just how much further there is to travel in the quest for knowledge. if there is intelligent life out there i do hope it is more advanced than us. they might teach us what they know, or they might render us a threat that they can quickly dispose of. i don't know. but the prospect of learning and advancing as a species is probably what keeps the scientists searching for possibilities.

yeah but that still doesnt take away the possibility that we might be the smartest, if not the strongest. There will always be more to learn, whos to say the others are just cavemen on an equally hospitable planet. Mybe their dead after searching for more resources after destroying their own planet. maybe we are the last left.

Our species itself will die out as all things will. The philosophy of evolution is a blatant contradiction to the third law of thermodynamics. when we die I believe there is some sort of non-physical thing left. DUALISM ALL THE WAY!
