31/F/Oxford, United Kingdom Join Date: May 2008 | It's true; most people will answer yes to the above question. Some people are racist without even knowing they are, while some are racist and know that they are but deny it or cover it up so that they can better fit in, especially now in the age of politically correctness. Also, although some people are very open about their racist beliefs, they usually don't think there is anything wrong with feeling or thinking a certain way, especially if what they think/feel is universally accepted as "truth"/the "norm" or whatever.
By the way, if any of you are interested, there's a book on the HP series which addresses JK Rowling's prejudice themes. It's simply called "Prejudice in Harry Potter," and yes, I wrote it. Whether or not you're a Harry Potter fan, it doesn't matter because my book is a social commentary which briefly summarizes the plot (for non-HP readers), highlighting the prejudice-related subplots in the introduction. Then the rest of the book uses Gordon Allport's classic text ("The Nature of Prejudice" to closely examine Rowling's treatise on all forms of societal prejudice, including racism and disability prejudice amongst others.
Cheers,
