Hey guys,
I'm going to buy a proper photography camera, and was wondering what you recommend?
I was looking at the Nikon D60 AF-S 18-55 DX II VR. Any thoughts? I'm figuring for my first camera, this is the best option! And probably the cheapest
I looooooooooooove this weather, makes me wanna get out and take tonnes of beautiful pictures!
Hey everyone!

Well, I don't think you can go wrong with the Nikon.

I own a Nikon D50 with a zoom and wide angle lens, best camera I have Ever owned, photos are awesome, especially with the Nikkor gla** in those lenses.

That's a pretty good camera.

Some people say "save your money and get a D40."

And I'd tend to agree.

Though I'd personally stay away from the D40 and D60 as they lack autofocus motors (requiring the use of more expensive lenses) and only have 3 autofocus points (as opposed to 7 on the Rebel XT and 9 on the Rebel XTi).

I need it for Aperture and Shutter Speed. I'm thinking the D60 would be a good start. Although if you can find a wider range for me to use on a camera around the same price bracket, ill be glad to have a look!

Any Digital SLR will allow you to use fully manual controls for aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and white balance. So don't worry about that.

I'd recommend the Canon Rebel XT, Rebel XTi, or the Nikon D40x.

The D40x will be a good bit cheaper than the D60, but almost identical. In my opinion, the D40, D40x, and D60 lack some key features (autofocus points, lens compatibility, high-ISO performance) compared to the Canon Rebel series, which is why I recommend the Rebels.

Excellent, that's the way to do it. Good luck!

No matter which one you get, you'll be a little overwhelmed at first, but you're guaranteed to have lots of fun.

Don't allow yourself to be seduced by the temptation of the dark side. You will be richer for it young carlyboo. Stay true, loyal and follow your feelings to what you know in your heart is the path you must take.
Buy the Nikon!!!

Look, I'll tell you what, I'll try and stick around this forum and bring you back to the side of good. Your deep within the grasp of the dark side and it's hold on you is strong. Fight it, I know it's not too late for you to turn. All is not lost, the power of Nikon is undeniable, there is, I truly believe, still hope for you.
