It depends on the tea, generally lemon with earl grey, milk with "english" or "breakfast" tea. Dont ask me how I know this probably a Twinings ad! A stereotype i hate is that students are lazy messy and eat nothing but beans!

Smile like you mean it !

Ok, firstly i'm from Dorset and I have a very slight twang, but hate the accent so reign myself in. To Americans I have a posh accent, but nothing could be further from the truth. I drop my t's talk very quickly and mash all my words up together. From what i've heard there is still a stereotype that we all have bad teeth, that we are boring, probably because we apparently all have dry sense of humours and that we drink tea.

well it shows that most Americans think Britain consists of England, and that Scotland is part of England, Wales too! We all talk with posh accents and drink tea!

Then again they do think Spain is in Mexico!

I remember reading 'The Da Vinci Code' and there being a British character in it. In the book, the american main character incorrectly tells the British character that milk should be put in tea. The British character then finds this a terrible misconception, claiming tea should have lemon in it.

So apparently us Brits put lemon in our tea. I can't remember seeing anyone do this in my life. It got me to thinking, what other steriotypes about British people can you think of which are complete Bulls**t?

When I was going to a French forum (de France), they were calling British "rosbif" (rosbeef), but I don't know why I think it's something about your food.

I was with an American once who was most surpised to find that double-decker buses could be found outside London and that they weren't all red!
