Why not take the cat somewhere to get her nails done professionally?

One of mine really hates it. He gets violent and tries to claw my eyes out.

I used to have to wrap him tightly in a towel around his neck and pin him down by sitting on him.

He's gotten a little better. Now I just have to sit on him.

how can you cut 20 nails while sitting on him?

I do all four cats 2X a month, 80 nails I clip!

takes under 5 minutes, I'm freakin fast!

one of ours is the same, violent as hell, now we use a towel over him.......and that sometimes doesn't work! Now we wait until he is sound asleep, pick him up gently and do them, he is still groggy, well for a minute anyway!

They don't just remove the "claws." They cut off the last joint of each digit. The whole bone, all gone.

It's the equivalent to removing your fingernails by cutting off the last joint of each of your fingers.

It's worth noting that the pads on the bottom of the cat's toes is attached to the bone that's removed... so the toe pads the cat walks on are removed as well. This makes walking painful for the cat. Forever.

Declawing is incredibly cruel. Most civilized countries have banned the process. It is strongly discouraged by the Human Society and the ASPCA, as well as many many veterinarians.

You mean I have to cut cat's toenails? I've usually always had the front declawed, but the last 2 I got, I kept intact. Bad enough clipping the dog's nails.

That's horrible and very cruel. Thanks for explaining it.

Have you tried at least sweetening the deal with treats? I give them treats right after or in between; last time I did it with very minimal protest. I have 2 and I also did my boyfriends (brings her for a visit).

I read somewhere that they will eventually associate the treats with brushing or clipping their nails....

its seriously painful, imagine someone yanking out all of your nails, then adding stitches. I hate when people do this, its so unfair to the animals, plus their nails are part of their instincts.
