Yeah, not to mention that the meat is given to locals that would otherwise have no protein, money is paid to the trackers, skinners, packmenand anyone else who works at the hunt camps. There are many many other positive to spots hunting.

I agree, all of the good that african sports hunting does is outweighed by the fact that someone just wants the animals skin.

I have to agree, before i knew anything about it i was against it, but having seen how it works i feel it is actually fairer than farming animals for meat.

People will pay more money to hunt in africa than they would to go on a safari holiday. There is something in human nature that makes man want to hunt, at least this way the cash goes towards the conservation of the animal and the preservation of the community in Africa.

Personally i wouldnt pay to hunt and kill an animal, however i do not object to others doing it under correct supervision and with a decent amount of skill to make a clean kill.

I don't like to hunt, I don't plan to hunt, and I don't think I ever would want to hunt.

But, that doesn't mean I'm against it. I just wouldn't be able to bring myself to shoot an animal like a deer or even a lion. But some people depend on it for food, they sell meat to support their family. A lot of people depend on it.

So hunting-good.

I watched that program too and have to admit it changed my opinion on a couple of things. If people are going to eat meat i'd rather they went out and killed an animal as and when they needed it, rather than hundreds of thousands of animals being raised on farms every year just to be killed to fill the supermarket shelves and then a lot of that meat gets wasted. That doesn't mean i support hunting though because i don't, i grew up with a father who hunted and took me out hunting! but i could never bring myself to shoot an animal i just didn't have it in me, hence the reason why i chose to become a vegetarian later on in my teenage years.

Reference the tv programme it did shock me that lions, rhino's and various other animals were getting bred to be hunted or "canned hunting" as it's better known and i don't support that at all unfortunately no matter how much one of the guys was saying he was conserving animals at the same time.

Plenty of other people are managing to conserve endangered species without opening up "canned hunting" reserves, but i do understand a lot of these men have opened up their business to earn a living and survive. So even though i don't personally agree with it i still try to remain open minded about Africa being a very different culture to my own. At the end of the day who am i to say what's right or wrong in a different culture, i know i wouldn't put up with anyone trying to come into my country and telling me to change my lifestyle and my values just because they may think they're wrong.

That's just my opinion on the subject though!
