I have had it for quite sometime now and not sure how to get over the hump anymore. I seldom write anything that is personal (I was working on a book), suggestions please?

I think that you can't force it, if you are not enjoying doing it and are stuck, STOP. Maybe another day you will get your inspiration back. Plus, time away from your material gives you a chance to re-evaluate it. Good luck

I am having a go at a book too and i have many a day where i lose my flow. I try to write about something completely unrelated. I wrote two pages once just on my armchair where i sit to do my writing and bingo, had my flashes back and away i went. Its worth a try and it works nearly everytime for me, i've written about my migraines, the crap people i work with, films that moved me. Anything really as long as its away from your book and loosening up your brain!!!

The best thing to help me get over writer's block is to read... books, magazines, newsapers... to find ideas that will inspire me back into action.

Grab your ipod/mp3 player/whatever and go for a nice long walk. Give your mind a chance to relax and change gears. Once you feel like you're not stressing about it anymore, sit down in a place like caribou or starbucks and try again. I do some of my best writing at Caribou.

Also, even just rereading everything you've written before the block (the last chapter or the last 4-5 pages) helps a lot because you start to get into the rhythym of where you were going with it again.

Good luck. Writer's block really sucks.

Set me free, your heaven's a lie...
