Salda growled loudly, getting the pack leaders attention. Taint's appearance made her hurt inside. he was sad, enraged, but inside, he was scared. he was deathly afraid now that he knew Aeonta's power, her ability.
"she..." Salda choked on her tongue, swallowed, and repeated, "she took his pain... set him free..."

Aeonta lowered herself to the ground. She no longer could stand to contain the old one's pain. She closed her eyes and tied the thread of his pain to the earth... slowly the earth healed her. The pain drained away, down into the earth, into the stones. The others simply stood there... looking back and forth from Aeonta's inert form to Taint's puzzled face.
Salda moved to stand over Aeonta.

"trust us..." Salda whispered. "we tried... to get... on your side..."
Aeonta watched Salda defend her willingly. she could tell, even without her abilities, that she was Salda's first real friend.

Aeonta's strength slowly returned, and she drew herself back to her feet. She and Salda stood side by side-allies, friends, sisters >thanks<
Taint looked at the two strong females, who simply gazed back at him without fear. >Peace<

Taint began to howl, followed by the pack behind him. the dead body of the silverback turned to blue, glowing dust and flew away in the wind. Salda and Aeonta joined the howling, showing that they, too, were part of the pack, even if they weren't part of it.

With the pack's howl and that of the storm, the blue dust scattered to the four winds, and a strange peace fell on the clearing.
Aeonta looked at Salda >pack?<, clearly bewildered that the howling had not attracted the rest of Salda's pack. Aeonta's own, her sister and brother wolvren, were hunting in the far side of the forest, far from the clearing.
Aeonta had never been so far from the wolvren, in all her life... But after her powers manifested, they had started to treat her differently. Not badly, exactly, but distant and somewhat fearful. Some had wanted her to lead, others were afraid; she could see her presence was bringing discord to the pack. She knew that the only way for the pack to live in harmony was for her to leave.

Salda had run from her pack, afraid of the leader, Blackfang. he had tortured her, wanting her to birth pups for each male in the pack. what kind of leader would do that?! Salda had taken a chance and ran off, hoping they would never follow; even think about her.

So, Salda and Aeonta found themselves alone- Taint tried to convince them to join his pack, but neither of the females were ready to be a part of a pack again. Taint and his pack sniffed their goodbyes, and melted into the woods.
Aeonta looked at Salda... >Feed? Hunt?<
Together they loped into the forest, following the fresh scent of hares.

Salda watched Aeonta skillfully stalk a hare. as soon as she was close enough, she pounced and chased the hare, where she caught it in mid jump right before it went into it's den.
Salda blinked.
Aeonta walked up to her. "come on, try it. it's easy."
Salda watched a few hares bound away from the commotion. what was a wolf to do...?
