15/M/Welland, Canada Join Date: Mar 2008 | I'll keep my name simple: Bob. I'm going to write from a 1st person point of view so...
This place was nothing like home, nothing like Toronto. Boot camp may have prepared us for battle but not for the change in terrain that we would have to endure. Already I saw a drastic change, everwhere I looked there was jungle, at least where we were anyway.
"Get movin' Bal!" That was Sergeant Bicks, he was our CO for Orange Company. He called me "Bal" because he never used our first names and Balitz was apparently too long for him.
"Yes sir!" I said, and moved along to our bunker where in a few hours we'd be recieving our dogs. That's right, we'd be using actual dogs in 'Nam to fight of the enemy. I know, it seemed a little cruel but they're a great defense. Besides, we have our guns as well...I hope.

15/M/Welland, Canada Join Date: Mar 2008 | As I sat on my bunk waiting for Bicks to come back, I looked at the other guys in the room and watched what they did. Across the bunker from me was Private Gale Terick; a prarie boy from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; he was lying on his bed thinking. Next to my bunk was Corporal Rodger Willik, a 26 year-old from Whistler, BC; he was writing home to someone, either that or he was writing a journal entry. Next to Gale was our 2nd in command - Corporal Allan Waters from Toronto, ON like myself. He was Bicks' go-to man and resident suck-up. No one really liked him, and I was sure that he'd get the best dog the Canadian Army had to offer.

15/M/Welland, Canada Join Date: Mar 2008 | Bicks swung open the door and said:
"Dogs are here boys! Come and get 'em!" I walked out to the truck and saw 4 dogs - 2 Rotweilers, 1 Doberman, and a German Shepard. "Alright people, by rank! Waters!" He picked one of the Rotweilers of course. "Willik!" He picked the Doberman surprisingly. "Terick!" And there went the last Rotweiler. "Ah, Bal, looks like you get the German Shepard, have fun." He said with an evil smirk on his face. I kneeled down and looked at the dog in the eyes.
"I don't mean to be offensive but I'm required to check your gender." I leaned in and discovered that the dog was a girl. "Well then, let's check your tag...Treaniilan eh? How about Trean for short?" The dog barked. "A `yes` I guess, well, let's head out back and do some warm-ups."
