hey all

so i have had amenorrhea (no period - TMI i know!) for almost a whole year for no reason.

im wondering mainly if anyone knows any possible cause for this at all? not weight related, not hormone related, not thyroid and not PCOS.

ANY help would be much appreciated

Sounds like the doctors have done just about every test you can do and excluded all the common causes.

The only thing i can think of that is not physiological is stress.

If its not hormones or weight them im pretty much baffled really.

I had my period a total of 5 times until I turned 30. No one could ever tell me why, I had 3 kids (planned) during that time, so I was still ovulating. I Wasnt under weight, or overweight, I wasnt stressed. Somewhere around 30 I started getting my period during spring and summer, once a month, Then I got my period and it wouldnt stop, a lot of blood too, they did another thyroid test and this time I was low, they gave me synthyroid and my period stopped, now I am 47 and I have had my period like clock work every month since I was put on the meds- I didnt have a thyroid problem in my 20s though, I just didnt get a period! Now my daughter (2 is having the same problem, she gets a period every few months. She also never had a problem getting pregnant, she has 2 kids- So who really knows what causes it. I just wanted to tell you this because I want you to know some people just dont get it the same as others, and both my daughter and I never really had any problems because of it. I have never had any other female problems either.

hi kalee
thanks for that =] but i thought if you didn't get a period it must mean you aren't ovulating? i didnt know you could ovulate and not bleed at all? wow. confusing. i just wish i knew what was going on!!

I know that for me, I went without my period for 4 months. It was stress related. (moved to new town with BF, starting new job)So then I thought I might be preggers. MORE stress! and another 2months with no period. it worked itself out in the end though.

Hopefully yours does as well.

I wish it had only been 2 months! ANd I would be ecstatic is I was pregnant! Because at the moment I don't think I can fall pregnant. In June (like, about 1 month away) it'll be 12 months with no period. 1 WHOLE YEAR!!!! Hehe.
Thank you

Anony, I guess that is not true- I dont know how I had my 3 without a period, but I did. My daughter too. Maybe you ovulate but dont shed the lining of your uterus. And I know that a woman can get pregnant while breast feeding and without having a period. I read that it was unhealthy to not have a period, but I really have not had any womans problems at all, and most of my friends had cysts and fibroids and endometriosis and they had regular periods. I am 47 now and everything is still working fine. I just want you not to worry too much.
