yeah something like that.
I think it's a complicated thing i have the basics down. but I guess I rely too much on my Ear. I learned how to play all my instrument by Ear and a few people showing me the proper way to hold or place fingers. And you pretty much said it. I like performing much better than having to learn Rules. Too bad for me though, I have to learn Theory as part of my job.

I play by ear. I can read music, but I hate it. You can never rely too much on your ear. It really bothers me when people act like playing by ear is a bad thing.

yeah I can read music as well with everything but guitar. it was hard learning though. I think Playing By ear is awesome. I have yet to meet any Jazz players who cannot do it. oh boy does it help with Improv. yah

Kullik101, what do you mean you hate music? Do you hate all music, or do you just hate taking it in school? When I took choir and piano in high school, I loved it, but when I took it in college it was horrible, well, choir was awesome, but the rest was pretty bad. Sorry if I was off topic.
