Ok ok, every one back into their corners, here's my opinion. I think that the time has come, most definetly, to re-write the constitution to fit the times. It was a great and very substantial paper, BACK THEN. Now? Not so much. It is out dated, and personally, badly written. There are too many areas where modern lawmakers can read into it what ever they want and deface the 'old laws and rules'. Hmmmm, reminds me of another famous writen word that was read into too much, and still causes much grief, but than this is just my opinion right...)for what it is worth, I am white, but am also looking at moving out of the US in the next 5-7 years.I am not leaving because I may hate the US, but because I m bored with the same-old same-old "white boy nation" it had become. but 'All be bock'...

I also want to leave the us but that is cause I think the people in America are becoming stupider. The constitution is timeless. But like the bible is being miss interpreted. All these old white guess set in there way are doing the interpreting and screwing it up. The fact is you have all the rights and you fight will all your might to have them interpreted in a better way but the problem is racism is being passed down thru time and we can't seem to stop it.

If people think the US is bad, then they should move to Iraq and see how great it is there.

Racism is everywhere, and there's not going to be a stop to it. You can't just walk up and say "Hey you! Stop being racist!" It doesn't matter what happens or what people say, racism is always going to exist.

Yea, i am not planning on leaving cuz of racism, THAT'S all over, I am just tired of being here. There are at least 4 other continents that I still have to visit...America, eeeh, been there, still there, done that...

Here in Canada it seems the minorities have more rights than the Canadian born white people.
We have had many of our laws changed to accomodate minorities. We can't publicly celebrate Christmas any more, it is now Winter Holiday. Christian prayers have been eliminated from schools and Government buildings and most public gatherings. Minorities have been acquitted of crimes because they claimed that their crime was not a crime where they came from. Practically every day some ethnic group is demanding new changes. Muslims want their own family laws. Sikhs want exemtion from Motorcycle helmet laws. Muslims want special prayer rooms built in the Universities. And it goes on and on.
I have worked in 4 of Canadas major cities over the past 40 years with people from almost every country in the world. The most discrimination and prejudice I saw came from other races from other countries who not only hate the white people but also hate each other.

Notca, do you think your rights are more important just because there are more people like you?

Shouldn't everyone's rights be respected, no matter how plentiful their group?

No I don't think my rights are more important than anyone else's.
But hers's the thing. Our country was built on certain laws and traditions put in place by people who came here from all over the globe because they were sick of the kinds of oppression they suffered in their native countries. Those laws and traditions made this a very desireable place to live. So now, if we allow our laws and traditions which worked so well to be changed our country will revert to the same chaos that most of today's immigrants came from.
I know it must be hard to assimilate oneself into a new country, but people must know before they go that it will be necessary to make some sacrifices.
It's kind of like if someone came to stay in your house and immediately started rearranging furniture and telling you how you should be doing things.
There has to be unity, some common grounds, for a country to thrive. Remember - 'A house divided cannot stand'?
Our laws and our general way of life is fair and good. We can't go changing it to accomodate every different culture that moves in or the results will be disastrous.

Not at all. It doesn't matter what the laws and traditions were based on. It only matters that they worked well. If they happened to be based on Christianity, that's just how it is.
As for having to give up our freedom of public religious symbalism, that is very unfair when you consider that all religions other than Christianity are allowed that freedom.
It doesn't offend the majority of Christians if other cultures wear turbans, burkas, or carry daggers. Why then does Christianity offend those religions?
I don't understand how anyone can be offended by someone else's religion.No one is trying to convert or asking them to join in Christian celebrations. So why can't they just practise their various religions and leave Christianity alone?
When I was in elementary school there were Protestants, Catholics and Jews in the class. The majority were Protestants. There were probably a few aetheists too, for all I know. When the Lord's Prayer was recited every morning those who didn't believe in it just didn't participate. They didn't protest, and who did it hurt?
When we travel to another country, we stand respectfully when their national anthem is played. Out of respect. It's all a matter of respecting the beliefs and traditions of others. When I go to a function in a church of another faith, I don't participate in their rituals but I don't cause a fuss either.
Then there's the hate laws that rankle so many people.
What this means is that if a person broke into my house, stole all my money and beat me up, he might (and I DO mean might!) get a jail sentence. Chances are it would be the minimum allowed, and he would be out after serving 1/3 of his sentence. If the person broke into the house of a minority family across the street, stole from them and beat them up he would get a mandatory sentence with no early release. Now is that fair? Is my safety and well-being not just as important as the minority family?
I believe the focus should be on the crime committed, not on why it was committed or who it was committed against.

It amazes me that still to this date that minorities( blacks especially) can still bitch about the most trivial injustices committed against them. Just to let you know this white america image couldn't be anymore bulls**t. Whites( America especially) as done more for africa then the africans have. We have provided aid to them and even sent over troops to help establish democracy, which has cost us men, men that have families.So before you bad talk america and how you think the constitution only applies to whites, know what your talking about. The best part is when minorities bitch about how there unfairly treated is, that in there own countrys its way worse example AFRICA. Over there the men can rape women without punishment, they can kill in the streets without worrying about law enforcement.
And although this wanst in the constitution but instead in the Declaration of Independence, the famous line all men are created equal, only meant that all white men were created equal and if you dont believe and just think im a racist f**k, look it up. Thomas Jefferson its author owned slaves.Oh yeah and for the record blacks owned blacks so whites werent the only ones who enslaved.
