whats the point to go to music college

To learn music theory, music history, instrument mastery, and how to compose music more complex than your typical 3-chord Green Day song while studying under those with massive knowledge, experience, and technical expertise.

Steve Harris, for instance, never went to music school, but you can bet that he spends a lot of time studying music and composition.

By comparison, John Petrucci, John Myung, and Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater met at the Berklee College of Music in Massachussetts. Dream Theater, if you don't know them, is a heavy metal/progressive metal band known for their complex compositions and *incredible* mastery of their instruments.

About 3-4 years to become a really experienced and good player, it matters hat
instroment you wnat to play.

do u think it's possiable 2 attend a collage thats just for music and go to drums then guitar, piano ,vocals etc?

The thing about most music programs is that you can only study classical or maybe jazz. Great if that's what you want to play, but all it did was depress me.
