26/M/NY, New York Join Date: Aug 2005 | Yeah, 10 years old, I would have done the same thing vs rebuilding. But then again calipers on my Pontiac are only $18 each at the local parts store.
So both rear calipers were seized? That's pretty odd. My guess is that one seized, leaving some friction material on its pads, then the other one seized some time later, while it used up the rest of its friction material (more quickly because it was the only one in the back doing any braking).
As for the e-brake, it's probably a simple adjustment. I don't know offhand how to do it on your vehicle, but you should definitely take care of it.
On the 1994 Maxima (which may or may not be different) I can verify that it's adjusted by rotating an adjustment bolt on the parking brake lever itself. You have to remove the skirt to see it.
Are you really a 21 year old female doing all this work by yourself??
