I never know how to answer when people ask if I've been with my guy for a long time; I just go with telling them how long.

So what do people here think? How long does a relationship need to last before qualifying as long-term?

Holy-shiz.

I say anything over two years. But I'm young so.

Well due to my age, for now I say once you reached the 18 month mark that is long term. Not many couples last a full year though. The young ones at least.

Most people are lucky to make it to five years; if they do, and still continue on, then that would indeed be long term.

From what I've seen though, most of the relationships that fail, usually start showing signs that it won't work around the two, two and a half year mark.
When you get up around five, you have generally been through so much s*** together, that you know you can pretty much weather anything. You've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly.

This is the sufficient amount of time in my opinion.

Wow, I was going to say 1 I guess my age is a factor here, though. I also think how well you know the person factors in, as well as how long you've known them; so even if something isn't technically long term it may seem as though it is.

It seems to me that most people are referring to any relationship that has lasted multiple years.

I was thinking the same. With how quickly so many relationship end now-a-days....

Of course the duration of relationships have diminished a lot for around the last ten years so maybe one year is quite an accomplishment in this age...

My age show much??
