I don't know how many of you have already heard about these, but I thought that they sounded like they are going to be great, so i thought I'd write a bit about them.

These are the new cosmetics, currently being developed by L'oreal, but I am sure other brands will be following soon. Basically what they are is cosmetics that change colour as you move in the light. I am not talking about a two tone effect. It is alot more dramatic and stunning than that. They have been partly inspired by the wings of butterflys, particually the Blue Morpho Butterfly.

The sort of clour changes I mean is lipstick that changes from pink to blue as you talk and mascara that flutters in silver and black.

They have so far developed lip-stick, eyeshadow, mascara and nail varnish. They are hoping to release the first peroducts next year.

Apparently there are a couple of gliches to overcome, such as the best effects are only visable in daylight, and they have to show people the colours. This is a problem because the colour of the product doesn't actually come from the pigment but from light relecting. So in the pot all colours are a white powder, untill applied to the skin.

I have found reading about the science used to devlop these productsamazing, but I don't know if it would really interest anybody else, but if you are interested just ask and I will tell you.

So what do you all think, is the next generation of make-up going to be a colour changing white powder that you can touch up with a magnetic wand. If so will the new advertising be:

L'oreal...... because I'm a camelion.

Personally I think the world could do with somthing a little more useful than color changing makeup...but that's just me.
As someone who has never bothered to wear makeup, and thinks that it's pointless paint to cover an otherwise beautiful face..I guess I'm not the one to ask.

Huh.. I had forgotten completely about makeup. I'm totally taking it for granted that I can kiss you and not get makeup in my mouth, on my lips, and on my face.

Little pleasures.

Its not really something to wear all the time. Just to wear when you want to stand out a little. I would probably only really use the mascara. I definatly wouldn't wear more than one of the products at once. But I think that something like your eyelashes fluttering when you have got the rest of your make up fairly nude, would just give the look a lift. I suppose its all personal taste. I only wear make up occasionally, so when I do its when I want to look quites glamed up. And its not as bright as it might sound either. The colours aren't like electric blues or pinks or anything like that. And the colour canges aren't liking flashing different colours, more a gradual blending into another as the light comes from different directions, like if you watch a butterflys wings closely.

Im not a big makeup wearer, I was taught that if you cant put it on in less than 5 minutes youre putting on too much. I stick by that. I dont think that different colors are my style but I think the "mineral" makeup is a cool idea, its more natural and not tested on animals. Anyone try it??

duuude...i don't really wear makeup often, and when i do i usually just use eyeshadow/liner/sometimes mascara...so that sounds like a really kick a** idea to me because when I *do* wear makeup, it's to stand out or get some reactions from people and it's almost a trademark style of mine to only paint the nails on one hand (something I started doing in Highschool. So why not draw more attention to that.I would totally use the mascara, the nailpolish, and the eyeshadow as long as they don't be stupid like some of these companies are and put lanolin in everything.

Interesting, I wear makeup to make it look like Im not wearing it. I dont know what I would do with a bold color of shadow or lipstick.....probably look like a total nerd cause its definately NOT me. But I did know this girl who wore pink and her hair was blue, man could she pull that off!!

I've had blue hair before! It rocked but I don't usually bother with lipstick because I'm allergic to every lipstick that i've tried... When I do want to add color to my lips, i generally stick to hypo-allergenic lipgloss or if i want to add something more dramatic, i'll actually put clear gloss on my lips and tap some eyeshadow onto them, then top with another coat of gloss. Makes for some incredible color options...

I only really do stuff like that when i go clubbing tho....other than that, i don't really wear makeup...

Hehe, when my husband met me, he was glad I didn't wear makeup cause he's allergic to more types of makeup than even I am...

WOW really? Ive never been allergic to makeup but I dont wear much. I cant stand all that stuff on my face. I have even done my makeup in the morning and washed it off cause it felt like too much. I hate that feeling.

Cool lip idea though, and you can match and shadow if you use it on the lips too. CRAFTY!!

I'm even allergic to most of the hypo-allergenic stuff Sometimes, on special occasions, i'll give in and put lipstick on, but it has to be a REALLY special occasion, because the next day my lips will be burning because of it....

As it is, I go through like 3 tubes of chapstick a month because I had a really severe allergic reaction to some glitter lipstick back in Junior High, and my lips have been even more sensitive since then. If I don't put lubriderm lotion on my face everyday and chapstick on my lips a couple times a day, the skin on my face starts to hurt and my lips start to crack and burn....
