So there is to be a 20% sales tax added to take-away hot food according to the government, this will raise the price of pasties, pies and hot baked goods, causing the share prices of Gregg's the Bakers to plummet!

Both David Cameron and George Osborne have been clamouring to prove their pasty eating credentials though both have outed themselves as non-pastie eaters, which is shocking (apparently anyway, I don't think I've ever eaten a Pastie in my life personally but apparently the PM and Chancellor have shown how out of touch they are).

It was also revealed today that you can avoid the tax by waiting for the food to cool, in the shop, before purchasing it!

So, what do you think about the Pie/Pasty tax. Good move against obesity, or an intrusive attack on a much beloved foodstuff?

Its a Good Idea! if they have to pay more they may not want to and start losing weight. I agree with this lol..well I dont eat sweets or take aways anyways so its fine with me lol

Not everyone who eats hot takeaway food is fat or needs to lose weight.

My Darling Girl. I am merely saying that this is a way for them to cut down on "big" people. I have read and heard that they are striving for better health and reduce the "big" people. Not Insulting, Just saying for the health of that small percentage it seems like a good Idea

No offense but I'm unsure if someone with an eating disorder should really speak about this issue.

I do not have an eating disorder. I just don't stuff myself with food and think about food all of the time. Just because I weigh 90 pounds and not 300 does not mean I have an eating disorder, I find it funny that people always think those who are skinny have an eating disorder

Considering you yourself have a journal talking about forcing yourself to eat more etc I think it is clear you have an eating disorder.

I Had gone to a doctors office to see and he said I was fine. I was just a picky eater.

But I have friends who are over weight and want to lose it. I am just saying that this may help them out. I am not trying to be rude or hurtful. just stating what I feel. I am sorry if you do not like it

Aren't pies and pasties predominantly consumed by working class people going to and from work? And aren't these pies considerably healthier than typical fast food burgers and fries (chips)?

They don't look like fruit pies, but that's not the only kind of pie in existence.

Shepherd's Pie

Chicken Pot Pie

Pizza Pie

No...hair pies are something else entirely and shouldn't be mentioned in polite company. They're typically warm though.
