So? The law in Illinois does not require everyone to get a state issued ID. According to you it requires an ID to vote, but that's not what my link was about.

Because they have to pay for them, or pay for the documents required to get them (copies of birth certificate, etc)).

You don't need a government-issued ID like a license to vote in Illinois. You can use a paycheck, bank statement, utility bill, etc.

It is flatly unconstitutional to require that someone pay the government money before you allow them to vote.

BTW, birth certficates are not free in IL (or any other state). $10 for a certification and $15 for a certificate in IL.

The electric bill had my name and address on it. That's all I needed to show, was that I lived where I stated I lived.

And yes, I have to pay my electric bill, but I don't pay the government for electricity.. so I'm not paying the government a fee for the right to vote.
