It's illegal to require someone to pay money before voting.

@Willi Said

i was told our daughter needed a state id after 18.
we got one.
your link says she doesn't.
when i went to vote, they ask for id.

So? The law in Illinois does not require everyone to get a state issued ID. According to you it requires an ID to vote, but that's not what my link was about.

@Willi Said

those registered, but didn't vote.
those names could be used, and who would know?

Yeah, I can tell in advance who is going to vote.

@Willi Said

This comes from the book I mentioned. A hundred people going to all the polling places. I go up to a person, they tell me what name to say. I sign that name and I go vote. Now I can go somewhere else and vote again. Anywhere I know there's a special person that will give me a name that I can use, and if I'm really bold I can go back to the same voting place and hope no one honest catches on. Does it happen? Did it happen in the past? If it didn't happen in the past, why was it portrayed in the book like it was true?

Well if something happened in a book, it MUST be true.

@Willi Said

why is it hard for poor folks to get an id?

Because they have to pay for them, or pay for the documents required to get them (copies of birth certificate, etc)).

I kinda have to agree with some of that! No, on second thought, most of what you say here.

In Obama's case, he was smart enough to get idiots to vote him in.

This is so far from the truth I want to hurl. The choice, almost 4 years ago, between re-electing Bush and voting in Obama was really a no-brainer. If it was the lesser of two evils, so be it. I don't see it that way. I am no idiot, and I resent being called so because I voted for President Obama. I will again in a few months, unless something catastrophic occurs. The people who are in my world who voted for the President are no idiots either. I'm tired of Republicans calling us so out of their OWN fear and ignorance.

Why spend time and money on all this bureaucracy when the existence of people voting using someone else's name is slim to none? That's not an efficient use of taxpayer dollars.

In Canada we voted for each other's districts, each with his right name but in the other riding by specially privately organized means (the computer does it though it can't guarantee privacy for the two users). Now, that's the people manipulating the vote at each other. The white house can make it simple; you can be anywhere in the country for your vote for the chosen jurisdiction. That is christian and justified by the honest wish of representing your beliefs with your fellow citizens.

Nobody wants to argue Christian now. Ha! "that would in the one candidate parliamentary system of democracy."

We couldn't re-elect Bush 4 years ago. He already had two terms. And McCain is not like Bush. He's closer to a Obama.

Hoppy I don't call names....so I don't understand why you can't or won't respect my wishes when I have repeatedly asked you not to call me names?
