alk1975![]() Jackson, Missouri | #76 @boobear Said ![]() I am a Paediatric Nurse by trade and training, I have tried a few roles in that area, including general, neurosurgery and research and now settling into school nursing where I think I will stay. I miss the ward and patient relationship but I love the 9-5 and no nights anymore too much! I recall this about you from a disagreement we had in another thread around the time I first got here. Glad you found a way to get the schedule you need. Nurses do have rough schedules and it would not be for me for mainly that reason. My mom was a nurse though, and I considered it, but knew that I wouldn't do nursing homes as she always had. It would have to be a doctor's office or something with a better schedule. Also she didn't like the nursing home because so many of the people never could understand where they were and what she was trying to do to them.

alk1975![]() Jackson, Missouri | #77 @sister_of_mercy Said ![]() I'm pretty sure a barrister is like being an attorney in a courtroom, yeah. It would be teaching whatever happens to be on the national curriciulum to be honest It's a compulsory class so chances are it will be more of a fight than anything else lol. ok, then it is more educating about religions than educating students of a particular faith (such as in a Christian private school). We don't get much religious education here until college and then only if you elect to take it or go to a private religious school which will indoctrinate you in their brand of religion only. I'd like to see more religious education in the school, but certain groups would only want it to be Christian education, and it would not be about the religion, they would want that religion taught as truth, so we settle for keeping it out all together. As for barrister, this is what I read and the only understanding I have of the term to date: Quote: A barrister is a member of one of the two classes of lawyer found in many common law jurisdictions with split legal professions. Barristers specialise in courtroom advocacy, drafting legal pleadings and giving expert legal opinions. They can be contrasted with solicitors – the other class of lawyer in split professions – who have more direct access with clients, and may do transactional-type legal work. Barristers are rarely hired by clients directly but instead are retained (or instructed) by solicitors to act on behalf of clients. The historical difference between the two professions – and the only essential difference in England and Wales today – is that a solicitor is an attorney, which means they can act in the place of their client for legal purposes (as in signing contracts) and may conduct litigation on their behalf by making applications to the court, writing letters in litigation to the client's opponent and so on. A barrister is not an attorney and is usually forbidden, either by law or professional rules or both, from "conducting" litigation. This means that while the barrister speaks on the client's behalf in court, he or she can do so only when instructed by a solicitor or certain other qualified professional clients, such as patent agents. Many countries with common law legal systems, such as the United States, do not observe a distinction between barristers and solicitors. In countries with civil law or other kinds of legal systems the legal profession is often separated into divisions but these divisions rarely shadow those of barristers and solicitors.

As for barrister, this is what I read and the only understanding I have of the term to date: Yeah we don't have many faith schools here and I don't think I could ever bring myself to work in one unless the pay was really good. It's been compulsory over here for a while now, makes sense really considering all the other cultures there are here nowadays, there's a big push to be as neutral and inclusive as possible. It's a nice relaxing syllabus compared to other departments at school though, doesn't take much to get a good grade in it so I'm hoping it will provide me with a chance to do a qualification in law on the side.

| someone_else Not a dude. Deleted ![]() American Alps, Washington | #81 I've done worse. I recall having a very simple dream, "One day, I will have a job where I don't wear a name tag." This dream came after years of working at Burger King (two tours) and a few hotels. I have now realized my dream. ![]() Now I need to start working on the new dream...being my own boss. ![]() | ||||||

| JuanSmith Shilsh-Aash yatasay ![]() Corral de Tierra, California | #84 My wife is finishing her degree in Music Management so, we're pretty much set when it comes to the marketing, legal (entertainment law), production, post production, and artist development sides of the house. now we just need to build our studio. I'm actually well ahead of my classmates due to my extensive musical knowledge. I'm holding my own with some who've been already working in studios as audio engineers for over 10 years. Makes me feel good that I can learn so fast and give them a run for their money... Still I've got plenty to learn and I'm being a good sponge thus far. | ||||||

Rini![]() , Georgia | #89 @alk1975 Said ![]() If you are studying for one then please post what it is you are working toward, how far along you are, what you are doing in the meantime, etc. Whatever you are comfortable sharing. I'm always curious about such things with people. I am in the B.A.T program at my college which stands for Business Administration Tech. I am on the medical side of the program which means I will have to learn anatamy and psychology as electives. The last paper that I looked at said I was 47% done with the certificate. I am working a part-time job because I can not get hired full time for some reason and I have a few "mental issues" apparently. I am working at a sandwich shop...or as some of you guys call it Subway. (I don't know if you guys have that in the U.K) I plan to finish my degree and I am applying for a job somewhere like Geico because I have a natural talent of typing. I have been clocked at typing 110 wpm with only 1 error. I got a certificate last semester proving it. Hope I don't sound too braggy with all this...if I do SORRY! ![]()
