moonlighthopes![]() , Canada | #1 I've been on nasonex spray twice now because they think I have chronic sinusitis. The first time i stopped three weeks in because I got sick, thought it was the flu. This time, three and a half weeks in, I'm getting sick like last time, sinus infection I believe. The doctor is squeezing me in today which tells me its a bit of a big deal. Has anyone else used nasonex and gotten sinus infections from it? Like I said, I'm going to the doctor today anyway, so don't tell me to get it checked, just curious how common it is.

| jonnythan Bringer of rad mirth ![]() Here and there, | #2 It's probably not the Nasonex giving you sinus infections. It can suppress certain functions of the immune system, but it's not the cause of the infections. | |||||||

| chisa96 Supreme Goddess ![]() Out in Nature, Wisconsin | #3 Yeah, it's likely the chronic sinusitis leading to your infections, not the nasonex. And it might not necessarily mean there's something big to worry about that they got you in so quickly. Perhaps they just happened to have a window today. | ||||||

| ReAdSaLoT Show a bit of class ![]() , | #5 I get chronic sinus infections and Nasonex usually helps. Once you get that infection it's hard to get rid of. A humidifier helped my son. | ||||||

moonlighthopes![]() , Canada | #6 TThe nasonex helps, the pain and post nasal drip was allgone, just after three weeks it seems to be an infection infection (fevers and all, where chronic sinusitis is typically just pain and swelling)

twilitezone911![]() Saint Louis, Missouri | #7 i have been used nasonex over 5 years, it's great stuff. i get a lot of sinius infections, it's your sinsus only give you the infections, not the spray. before i had the spray, i ahd really bad time with sinius infections, it got to the point that siniuses were so clotted up that i barely could heard out of my right ear. the spray helps my sinius clear them out, so i can heard again. there is that much you do with sinius infection, it caused by the change of the weather, at least, mine are. your doctor might give another medicine or tell you to live with it. chronic sinusitus is very little you can do with it, just move with your life.

I was using Nasonex for over 6 years and got migraines and floaters from using it so stopped using it regularly. I do use it when I need it for my chronic sinusitis, but I never got an infection from using it. If anything I got rebound sinus pain but never infections. There's always a first time for everything and I hope your doctor can figure out what is contributing to your infections because I know they are bad to have. Good Luck!

ClickBoom![]() , Canada | #9 If you have sinustitus you might want to consider douching your nose with something like this. link [www.1stvitality.co.uk] I used something very similar in the past and it helped a lot. It would be worth talking to your doctor about it.

| jonnythan Bringer of rad mirth ![]() Here and there, | #11 I'm not a fan of the whole nasal irrigation thing. Your nasal membranes are sensitive to chemistry changes and flushing them with salt seriously changes the chemical environment. You can also get infections pretty easily. Just a couple of months ago some woman in the US died from a naegleria fowleri (an amoeba which eats the brain) infection from a nasal irrigation with tapwater. | |||||||

The insturctions that came with my kit said to either use distilled water or boil it first. I boiled mine in order to avoid any serious side effects.

| sTreetAngeL root tedt ree ![]() in a paradox, | #14 I wanted to make sure first before I replied.. I had really bad allergies years ago, which I'd never had prior, so thought I was dealing with a bad cold. I was taking dristan nasal spray for about 5 months straight; and when I finally went to the doctor, he told me the lining of my nose was getting messed up because of it (much like what happend to cocaine ussers). He told me to get some over the counter saline spray for the nose and use that instead. I did, and although it wasn't as 'instantly' effective as the Dristan, it did little by little give me relief, and at the same time, wean me off of the dependency I'd developed for the Dristan. So OP; be careful with these sprays. They are not meant to be long term, and can do more harm than good if over used. | |||||||

| jonnythan Bringer of rad mirth ![]() Here and there, | #15 Decongestant sprays are as different from Nasonex as Drano is from orange juice. | ||||||
